Jewel with an intriguing history, a heart shaped diamond that once belonged to the Duchess of Windsor who originally bought it from Harry Winston back in 1951, is now the highlight of the jewels from the collection of Mrs. Est?e Lauder and Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder which will be notably auctioned to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation founded in 1993 by Evelyn Lauder, who also was the co-creator of the familiar breast cancer awareness symbol, the Pink Ribbon. More than 35 exquisite jewel pieces together estimated in excess of $13 million, will be auctioned by Sotheby?s as part of its Magnificent Jewels auction in New York on Dec. 5th. Estimated to sell for $1.5 to $2 million, this 47.14-carat heart-shaped Fancy Intense yellow diamond was worn by Duchess of Windsor as a ring and was later refashioned as a diamond pendent necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels for Estee Lauder back in 1978.

Out of all the 35 jewels to be sold, some of the significant and top lots include a rare 6.54 carats internally flawless Fancy Intense Pink diamond ring from the Collection of Evelyn H. Lauder, renowned for her work in bringing global awareness to the importance of women?s health, comes with a pre-sale estimate of $4 million to $5 million.

Also, a potentially flawless platinum and diamond ring weighing 22.16 carats from the collection of Evelyn H. Lauder, is expected to fetch as much as $3 to $4 million, along with a circa 1940 Evelyn Lauder's Mystery-Set ruby and diamond brooch created by Van Cleef & Arpels, France, which is expected to fetch around $60 to $80K. Also, as part of its Magnificent Jewel auction scheduled to be held on Nov. 14th, Sotheby?s earlier announced the auction of Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain?s Cartier bracelet, which is expected to fetch as much as $1.4 million.
Speaking about the noted jewels that has come up on the auction blocks, a 1959 made platinum, 18 karat gold, emerald and diamond necklace created by Bulgari for the noted philanthropist and socialite Brooke Astor got sold by Sotheby's for $686,500, way more than its pre-sale estimate of $350,000, with the proceeds going to charity.
